1909 Gilbert High School Steinway Restoration
In 1911, Gilbert High School purchased a brand new Steinway Model O grand piano to put in its newly completed Feyereisen Auditorium. It lived there, used by generations of students, until its degrading condition led to disuse in the early 2000s. When the building was closed as part of school district consolidation, there was discussion about what to do with this piece of Iron Range history. Eventually, the decision was made to restore the piano and put it in the student commons area at the new Rock Ridge High School. It took 15 months of work, but we are proud to have finally completed the restoration and set this piano up for a second life and use by many more students!
